The New Head-Scratching Value Cab: It MUST Be Soos Creek

The "official" name of this wine obscures the brains behind it; the playful label and name bely the seriously outstanding juice inside. It’s Soos Creek, it’s Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon, and it is the newest head-scratching value which WAY over-performs for its sub-$20 price.

Just when we thought Soos Creek couldn't surprise us yet again...we sink our teeth into the 2018 King Cab and think, "how do they get this in the bottle for under $20?!" Soos Creek fans and value red wine fans–this is a must-have.

Soos Creek + Horse Heaven Hills + Cab = the newest spectacular value in Washington Cabernet. Come for the price, stay for the rich and velvety goodness that pours forth from this bottle.

From Soos Creek: Cabernet Sauvignon has been called "The King of Wines." The grapes for this wine are sourced from the sandy soils and high-density vines of McNary Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills of Washington State. The vintage is well-structure yet agile, with expressive blackberry and black cherry flavors accented by spice notes and ending with a long, soft finish.

Last call for the 2017 Soos Creek trio! The 2017s are the top of Soos Creek's game: red wines to be taken seriouslybold, packed with flavorthat are loads of fun, even more so because of the prices. As notoriously stingy-scoring international wine critic Steve Tanzer said, "Veteran winemaker Dave Larsen really nailed the 2017 vintage." Nailed.

The Soos '17s have the most impressive set of reviews they've received, from two of the most conservative scorers in the business (93s from them are big deals) and double wows from us. What are you waiting forit's time to get serious and get these!

Us: Slap a $60 price tag on this and it still more than competes. Serious business! It begins with the coveted 1982 block of old vine Cabernet from undoubtedly one of Washington's best vineyards, done in a more classic than massive style, showing off the gorgeous purity and sophistication possible in Washington Cab. It has a kingly stature defined by its balance, not by its bigness.

93 points Vinous, Steve Tanzer: "Reticent but very pure scents of blueberry, blackberry, cocoa powder, licorice and spices. Fine-grained, vibrant and concentrated; very young and rather tightly wound but already offers a lot of personality, definition and energy, as well as a very suave mouth feel and captivating incipient sweetness. The fullest and most refined of the Soos Creek 2017s today. Finishes suave and long, with integrated tannins and rising notes of purple berries and violet. It’s clear that this wine is from a top-notch site. Veteran winemaker Dave Larsen really nailed the 2017 vintage."

$28.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($31.95 regular)

Us: A ton of fun, exploding with flavor. Bright, mouthwatering black cherry, plum, dark chocolate and hints of herbs come together for a wine that's! And it's plenty serious and lipsmackingly delicious.

Us: A customer Cab favorite because there's so much Cab character packed into this beauty, generously dishing dark red and black fruits with a pinch of tobacco. It's more serious than previous vintages of TB, bringing greater depth to an already deeply enjoyable Cabernet. What a steal!
