The Epitome of Small Batch Chardonnay

Happy International Oregon Chardonnay Day!

Okay...we made that up, but there is indeed reason to celebrate, or three reasons to be precise: three favorite wineries and three of the most exciting Chardonnays we can imagine -- each speaking so loudly, clearly, and distinctly that they had to be bottled on their own, at the sole expense of quantity.

The total production of the three wines together is 190 cases -- the epitome of small batch standouts. Twill continues its streak of pure magic; Evesham Wood simultaneously honors a legacy and establishes a new one; Minimus drops the hammer with the 97+ point 1984 Chardonnay Stein Vineyard, the highest rated wine in The Wine Advocate's annual report on Oregon wine, featuring reviews of 830 wines.

Twill Molly's Vineyard Chardonnay 2016

$35.05 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($38.95 regular)
With only 25 cases total of this heavenly nectar, how will the world ever know how spectacular it is? It doesn't matter -- let's hoard it for ourselves. Bright and savory, showing yellow and green citrus at first, then mouthfilling, juicy nectarine. And that's only the fruit part, because there's ginger, jasmine, and a wonderful sweet/salty minerality. In short, it is utterly superb Chardonnay, yet another feather in Twill's cap. - Marcus

Evesham Wood Mahonia Vineyard Chardonnay 2015

$32.35 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($35.95 regular)
I've been waiting more than a year for Erin to let us sell this. I first tasted it at the winery when there wasn't a label -- just a strip of masking tape with marker. Now it sports a heritage Evesham label, harkening back to decades ago, honoring the Chardonnays that Evesham founder Russ Raney made during a very different time for Oregon Chard. There's a wonderful density of flavor and feel, a harmony from the extended bottle aging before release, and a notable completeness from aromatic opening to subtly creamy end. A mere 45 cases produced. - Marcus

Minimus Chardonnay 1984 Stein Vineyard 2016
$71.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($79.95 regular)
97+ points Wine Advocate: "From own-rooted vines planted in 1984, the 2016 Chardonnay 1984 Stein Vineyard bursts from the glass with honey toast, crème brûlée, brown butter and lemon cream aromas over ripe red and yellow apples, white flower and warm hay notes. Medium to full-bodied with a gorgeous creamy texture, it fills the mouth with luscious ripe tree fruits and creamy lemon flavors accented by hazelnut, honey and toast, with a brilliant line of acidity, finishing very long with stony notes. This is a beautiful Chardonnay! 120 cases produced."

At the risk of making this sell out even more quickly, we tasted it and it is really good. And very limited. Very.
We're looking forward to helping you with an order. Thanks for your support and have a great weekend!
