As a partner to our favorite Pinots of the year list, which focused on our raves and recommendations alone, we offer today the "greatest hits" of Willamette Valley Pinot 2019 so far, focusing on highly rated Pinots which we think are entirely deserving of praise. Us: Is the review for real? Damn right it is. Alexana has hit new levels with 2016. Aromas of rollicking red fruits, nutmeg, and cocoa powder usher you to rich black cherry and violet. An outstanding value in Willamette Valley Pinot because it packs so much into a reasonably priced wine. - Marcus

Us: Given its track record the last three vintages, Dopp Creek has firmly established itself as one of the best values in Willamette Valley Pinot noir. The 2017 is OUR pick of the last three vintages (yes, you read that right). What we love about it: wonderful aromas, silky-bodied cherry-red berry fruit, excellent balance, classic Willamette Valley Pinot. 

Brick House Les Dijonnais Pinot noir 2016

Us: Brick House is on a serious roll -- to me, the wines have never been better! Les Dijonnais '16 is simply sublime, densely packed with the most attractive array of red berries, wrapped delicately in a tapestry of floral, clove, and mineral tones. We've had a bottle open for four days and it's still bright and fresh -- this should last a good long while in your cellar, unless you want to dive right in now which we wholeheartedly encourage. We expected righteous scores for this most righteous wine. An essential Pinot noir in any Oregon collection. 

Beaux Freres Beaux Freres Vineyard Pinot noir 2017

Us: A gorgeous vintage of Beaux Freres Vineyard, with a seamlessness I don't ever recall tasting in this wine, in any vintage. What that means: from start to finish, the wine moves so effortlessly, like floating without gravity from one billowy Pinot cloud to another. Wonderfully pretty, fresh and vibrant, a characteristic of 2017, with understated power and energy. Tasted twice with the same  impression.    

Alloro Riservata Pinot noir 2016

Belle Pente Estate Reserve Pinot noir 2015

Finishes extremely long and pure, with fine-grained tannins providing shape and grip to lingering raspberry and bitter chocolate notes.
Us: A powerhouse vintage for Belle Pente's Estate Reserve, with early-drinking precociousness marrying potential for a decade of age.  

Broadley Jessica Pinot noir 2016

Us: Gorgeous wine. Pure and deep, velvety textured and plush yet with excellent verve and balance. A simmering, underlying deft power and inner Pinot sweetness makes it irresistible.
