Making Oregon Pinot noir isn't rocket science. But if it were, Don Hagge would fit right in. A physicist who worked for NASA on the Apollo program, he developed a love for Burgundy while doing post-grad research in France. After successful careers in science and business, Don and his wife, Vicki, (hence the name, VEE-Don) purchased 20 acres in the Chehalem Mountains and planted the first vines in 1999.
Don's stated goal isn't to make highly rated wines, but that didn't stop Wine Spectator from awarding his 2014 3 Clones Pinot noir with 94 points and the coveted "Highly Recommended" tag, which means it will be featured in the upcoming buying guide. Drinking beautifully already; get it while you can!Vidon Pinot noir Chehalem Mountains 3 Clones 2014

94 points Wine Spectator, Highly Recommended: "Sleek and harmonious, open-textured and transparent, letting the raspberry, pomegranate, rose petal and spice flavors dance through a long and inviting finish. Drink now through 2024."
A very pretty 2014 Pinot, enticing you with summer raspberries, cherry candy, and subtle floral notes. Drinking beautifully already -- we see no reason to delay enjoyment -- but with plenty of goods to age four to six years. - Marcus
