Reference Point Washington Reds: Betz Pere de Famille and Clos de Betz 2015
Dear Washington fans,
We are elated to offer another jaw-dropping set of wines from Betz Family Winery, unquestionably one of the reference point estates in Washington -- a point of total agreement between The Wine Advocate and yours truly. Following in the footsteps of the exquisite 2014s, Pere de Famille and Clos de Betz 2015 are in rare company as far as we're concerned: Pere is one of a literal handful of Washington Cabernets that so perfectly handle the structure of Cab with such class, and Clos de Betz is the poster wine for Merlot's capabilities in Washington.
Last year, both wines scored higher than their early projections and it's likely each will be on the high side when the reviews are published this summer. Regardless, these wines are must-haves for fans of Cab and Merlot.

This floored me, again: the first thing I wrote was "boo-yah!" So brilliantly polished and elegant, so gorgeous and voluptuous, all the while maintaining a near-mythical freshness and perhaps the most refined tannins of any top-shelf Washington Cab. Classically Cabernet in aroma and flavor (expertly captured in the note below), what really sets it apart is the velvety texture. This stunning wine can be enjoyed in two years or in twenty. - Marcus
93-96 points Wine Advocate: "Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Pere de Famille is a head turner offering a detailed, mineral-laced, full-bodied, fresh and elegant style that doesn't lack for oomph or structure. It has classic notes of cassis, smoked tobacco and graphite, with nicely integrated acidity and a great, great finish."

This begins with a wonderful purity of aromas, transitioning to a combination of freshness and sweetness that is 100% Betz. A waterfall of creamy dark red fruits glides along, picking up accents of cedar, cardamom, and tobacco. So silky...so silky! - Marcus
92-94 points Wine Advocate: "...the 2015 Clos de Betz is 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot brought up in a mix of barrels. Its chocolatey plum, tobacco leaf, licorice and damp earth aromatics give way to a medium to full-bodied, polished, pretty style on the palate that shines for its elegance and freshness."
We're looking forward to helping you with an order. Thanks for your support!
