Rasa's Inspiring Reds
Count us as two of the original Rasa fans. As we tasted with winemaker Billo Navarane last Thursday, each new wine he poured brought us closer to saying out loud what we were thinking: the best Rasa line-up we've had! By the time we got to the Limelight, we couldn't take it anymore and blurted it out.

The best Cabernet Franc from Washington and I'm willing to argue the point! I don't think I'll have to...after the last vintage we offered (2015) made its way to customers' glasses we heard exactly that. Beautiful savory and floral accents provide extra wattage to the glowing orb of super-supple fruit, rich and righteous. The texture alone will win you over.

Great juice and an outstanding value! There's a plushness that you want, that you need from a dynamite Tuesday night red, here in ample supply. But you want a little intrigue, too, so add some savory spice underneath and yum, enjoy with abandon. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Cab Franc, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, and Petit Verdot.

Buy because you love Petit Verdot or because it is a stunningly brilliant wine. We've always been fond of Limelight but the 2016 melts all the previous vintages, capturing the exotic and energetic lushness of Petit Verdot while adding elements that make it a complete, compelling wine. It gushes with black and blue fruited intensity, plunging deep and dark, then shows a surprisingly bright and lively side. Utterly, immaculately seamless--it moves with grace, not with muscle--picking up espresso notes that make us want to pair it with espresso-rubbed steaks.
The recent passing of Neil Peart, drummer and lyricist of Rush who inspired the name of this wine and millions of young drummers like me, calls for a special toast. Here's to those who inspire us!
