Patricia Green Everyday!

One of our three most beloved everyday Pinots is back: Patricia Green Reserve 2018! We are huge fans, as is Wine Spectator, dishing out a sweet new review. While we're heaping on the love for Patricia Green Pinots, we're including two new 2018s which have become favorites of ours: Estate Old Vine and Volcanic. They always get great scores but by the time they do, there's not much left. So be smart and get your orders in now!

You heard it here first: Willamette Valley 2018s are going to blow the doors off. Think blockbuster vintages like 2008 and 2012...but silkier and with better overall balance. Pinots that first show boldness and concentration then show you how bright, vibrant and downright gorgeous they are. Sounds pretty outrageous, eh?

92 points Wine Spectator: "Offers refinement and presence, with expressive raspberry and pomegranate flavors, laced with fresh violet and orange blossom notes, building richness toward polished tannins. Drink now through 2027."

In short, this wine is a smoking deal! This bottling comes from terrific sources: slightly over 40% comes from PGC's Estate vineyard plus big contributions from Freedom Hill, Durant, and the Mysterious vineyard (which can't be named but is a gem in the Dundee Hills).

The assemblage for this particular wine is always fascinating because you can see the wine come together as the elements from each block are added in. This wine is one of the few truly older vine bottlings that exists from Ribbon Ridge. Older vineyards here have the capacity to translate the mineral laden nature of the water and soil into the refined, focused nature of the fruit. Ribbon Ridge is a special place and as interesting, dramatic and amazing as some of PGC's specialty bottlings are from the estate vineyard, this one is the mother of them all.

Come for the geology, stay for the incredible taste. Red fruits and spices combine on an incredible textural lattice making this wine both edu-mah-cational and very difficult to not find appealing. This bottling comes equally from the high elevation, 1990 plantings of Pommard in Balcombe Vineyard, the mid-tier elevation of both the 44 year-old Pommard clone vines in Durant Vineyard’s Bishop Block and the Dijon 115 in the 18 year-old Madrone Block, the 38-year old vines from Weber Vineyard and from a Worden Hill Rd. site planted in 1990 that is bottled under the name "Mysterious." Taking from the cooler, windier Breyman Orchard sites (Balcombe and Durant) as well as the cool vineyard within the warm growing area (Worden Hill Rd.) shows a complete picture of the Dundee Hills and its volcanic soil influences. While some element of whole cluster fermentations barrels was used, no new barrels were incorporated so as to show the clearest path from soil to wine as possible. What comes forth is pure Dundee Hills goodness.
