Our Tastes and Wine Advocate Agree: Ayres

Looking back over the past five years of wine club selections and Pinot noir recommendations, one wine has been a mainstay: Ayres Lewis Rodgers Lane. It's shined each vintage and contrary to the upward trajectory of wine pricing, has maintained its value price since 2010.

So when we read Wine Advocate's annual Oregon report and the review for Ayres Lewis Rodgers Lane 2015 (93+), we were stoked! What can we say -- we have good taste. With the best points-to-price ratio in the report and our stamp of approval, you can't go wrong.

Ayres Lewis Rodgers Lane Pinot noir 2015

$30.55 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($33.95 regular)
93+ points Wine Advocate and Avalon favorite: "...the 2015 Pinot Noir Lewis Rogers Lane explodes with the most gorgeous fragrance of roses and cinnamon stick with a core of red cherries, pomegranate and violets, plus a waft of fungi. Medium-bodied, it delivers wonderful vibrancy and depth with satiny tannins and a very long, refreshing finish."

Ayres continues to knock it out of the park. Once again, our favorite bottling within their line-up is Lewis Rodgers Lane, named for the road on which the winery and vineyard are located. Estate grown, Ribbon Ridge Pinot noir, this delicious and this price? Sign us up! The '15 is a prime example of Ribbon Ridge Pinot with an added lift of freshness and buoyancy. It bursts with wild berries and fresh summer black cherries, underscored by savory earth tones. - Marcus

Another winner from Ayres:

Ayres Pioneer Pinot noir 2015
$33.25 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($36.95 regular)
93 points Wine Advocate: "...an enticing perfume of violets, black cherries, black raspberries and potpourri with hints of oolong tea and sautéed herbs. Medium-bodied, it reveals a very elegant palate of silky tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and spicy."

A dark and serious Pinot with plenty of joyful exuberance, its blackberry and black cherry fruit heart is decorated by a mushroom and rosemary-like savoriness. Yum!

And now for something COMPLETELY different...
