One of Our Favorite Wineries in the World: Felsina

When we make a short list of our favorite wineries in the world, there are only a few gimmes. After dozens of vintages tasted and two mind-blowing visits, one of them is Felsina

It's one thing to make a list of your favorite wineries. It's another to actually have access to their wines. Within a wine world of skyrocketing exclusivity and pricing, Felsina's wines remain remarkably accessible in every way. With the truly epic back-to-back 2015 and 2016 vintages, now's the time to add some of Felsina's wines to your collection, both the "landmark achievement" Fontalloro and our pick for one of the world's single greatest wine values, Felsina's Chianti Classico.

Felsina Fontalloro Toscana IGT 2015
$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($54.95 regular)
97 points Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Fontalloro is a landmark achievement. The bouquet strikes out with immediate complexity. It dangles aromas of black cherry, spice, tar, forest floor, wild rose and campfire ash in front of your nose with seductive allure. The unified presentation and delivery of all those aromas is profound and impressive. This edition of Fontalloro is exceptionally smooth and silky in texture and this is surely linked to the ripe, soft and finely textured fruit produced in this vintage. This is a pure expression of Sangiovese that is aged in barrique for up to 22 months."

Oh hell yeah! I don't know how to outdo the above note. I'll riff further on the theme of accessibility, this time in reference to how amazing '15 Fontalloro tastes already, utterly pleasing this wine-lover with a penchant for impatience. Buy some for now, buy more for later. Landmark! - Marcus
Felsina Chianti Classico 2016
$23.35 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($25.95 regular)
92+ points Wine Advocate: "This is an excellent vintage in Chianti Classico that shows especially well in the simple, more accessible wines such as this. The 2016 Chianti Classico Berardenga delivers the power and density of its territory. The southern side of the appellation often shows the richest expressions of Sangiovese. This wine opens to sweet aromas of dark fruit, cherry and plum. The wine shows a slightly savory side as well with spice and dried terracotta that recalls the gray gravel soils of the region. Bay leaf, cola and chopped mint appear as subtle background notes."
My absolute can't-miss, Tuesday-through-Monday night wine. Easily, easily one of the world's single greatest wine values, especially in 2016. I cannot stop plowing through bottles. I'm devoting an entire section in my new wine cellar to this wine. For real. - Marcus
