New Highly Rated Arrivals from Piedmont: Cantina del Pino

Greetings Italian wine fans!

Less than two weeks before we'll be visiting the cellar of Cantina del Pino, one of our go-to Piemontese producers. From epic Barbaresco to top notch Dolcetto, Cantina del Pino delivers irresistible charm and polish in their wines. We're particularly fond of these 2014 Barbarescos -- pure class and elegance in each and every one. The only downside is that quantities are especially limited, so we advise you to lock them in while you can.

Cantina del Pino Barbaresco Gallina 2014

$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($54.95 regular)
95 points Wine Advocate: "Of Cantina del Pino's three single-vineyard expressions, the 2014 Barbaresco Gallina is the most muscular and powerful. This is a terrific effort with dark fruit nuances, followed by spice, balsam herb and very evident mineral notes of flint and crushed granite. Those mineral notes give a salty side to this wine that is already heavily identified by its rich, fruit-forward personality. I cannot imagine a better pairing partner to the traditional foods and meat dishes of Piedmont. Only 2,000 bottles were produced."

Cantina del Pino Barbaresco Albesani 2014
$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($54.95 regular)
94 points Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Barbaresco Albesani is distinguished by a very fine and tightly knit texture that bodes very well for its future aging potential. The wine promises to reward more intensity and elegance as it moves forward in time. But even now, at this young stage in its life, this is an elegant and approachable expression of Nebbiolo. Only 3,000 bottles were made."

Cantina del Pino Barbaresco Ovello 2014

$45.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($54.95 regular)
93 points Wine Advocate: "The beautiful 2014 Barbaresco Ovello opens to a precious and delicate personality. There is plenty of aromatic intensity here, and it comes forth with dried blueberry, pressed violet, wild rose and earthy truffle. The mouthfeel is silky and smooth, but it also shows firm density and solid structure. This Barbaresco should hold nicely for the next 15 years or so. Only 4,000 bottles were produced in this vintage."
The flagship cru, the '14 Ovello is sooo gorgeous already, offering silky refinement in spades. Fire up your favorite braise or ragu if you want to crack one now, or tuck away for as long as you have the patience. - Marcus

Cantina del Pino Barbaresco 2014

$35.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($39.95 regular)
92 points Wine Advocate: "The delightful 2014 Barbaresco by Renato Vacca and his family at Cantina del Pino is a smooth and delicate wine. It shows a dark and intact color with light berry aromas followed by light shadings of spice, tar and tobacco. The wine appears light and streamlined in terms of mouthfeel, yet it also delivers power, structure and length."

An impressive balance of super pretty fruit and elegant structure, showing delicious accents of spice, tobacco, and menthol. It's already very tasty but (of course) has the goods to age for a decade. - Marcus

Cantina del Pino Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

$16.15 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($17.95 regular)
This wine is so delicious right now! Always one of our favorite Dolcettos because of its beautiful aromas, adding super-inviting cherry and plum accented by licorice and subtle spice notes which glide with freshness and vibrancy. Fantastic food wine that'll become a staple on your table. - Marcus
We're looking forward to helping you with an order. Thanks for your support!
