More New Arrivals/Favorites from Italy

Our thirst for Italian whites and reds grows by the day, partly because almost every day we've had new containers arriving from the Old World, filled with new vintages and new favorites.

We raced out to taste the 2017 Terre Bianche Vermentino, after the '16 was this year's break out white wine. It's fabulous! And so are the wines from Barbaresco's Cascina delle Rose -- a brilliant Dolcetto and supremely elegant Barbaresco. Cheers!

Terre Bianche Vermentino Riviera Ligure di Ponente 2017

$24.25 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($26.95 regular)
This year's surprise, break out white wine success story was the '16 Vermentino from Terre Bianche. We've been flooded with requests for the 2017 which has finally arrived. Delivering lovely wafts of sea breeze, a bowl of lemons, white flowers, and aromatic herbs. Mouthwatering citrus combines with a saline minerality that works so perfectly with food: fantastic with fish and seafood, great with salads, it can hold its own with most anything, including as a pre-dinner sipper. Transport yourself to the Ligurian Riviera...I'll already be there! - Marcus

Cascina delle Rose Dolcetto d'Alba A Elizabeth 2017

$17.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($19.95 regular)
My recent trip reminded me of how much I love Dolcetto. It's as versatile and quaffable as Pinot noir, and if I have to choose one word to describe this Dolcetto it's "brilliant." Beginning with the color, moving to the the crushed violet and red fruit perfume, finishing with super-fresh purity and softness. Discover why the Piemontese drink more Dolcetto than Barbera. - Marcus

Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco Tre Stelle 2014
$58.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($64.95 regular)
Having the incredible fortune of enjoying this wine on a terrace in the tiny enclave of Tre Stelle only added to its beauty. Fragrant and lively, supremely elegant, simply a classic Barbaresco -- and also the prettiest -- I tasted on my trip. Roasted rabbit has not met a better match. - Marcus
94 points Wine Spectator: "Complex and enticing aromas and flavors of macerated cherry, licorice, sandalwood, cigar box and tar are the hallmarks of this Barbaresco. Dense and firm for now, but this should develop nicely over the next decade. Best from 2021 through 2035. 333 cases made."
