Mark Ryan's 100% Cabs: The Top Echelon

Happy weekend Cabernet fans!

Mark Ryan, one of our absolute favorite Washington wineries, built their reputation on the Dead Horse and Long Haul red blends. As much as we love both, the last couple vintages of 100% Cabernets have been mind-meltingly good and have catapulted to the top -- that's the top echelon of Washington Cabernet, if you ask us.

Today we celebrate the return of Old Vines and Lonely Heart. In our opinion, these are essentials for a Washington Cab collection.

Mark Ryan Old Vines Cabernet Sauvingon 2014

$58.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($64.95 regular)

We are stoked to see the Old Vines return to the Mark Ryan line-up! Powerful black and dark red fruits provide the core with super-delicious accents of mocha, savory earth and sweet spices. An outstanding candidate for the cellar. From a trio of the oldest, most prized Cabernet vines in Washington state: Ciel du Cheval (Red Mountain), Red Willow (Yakima), and Phinny Hill (Horse Heaven Hills), and only 200 cases made. - Marcus

93-95+ points points Wine Advocate: "A wine that wasn't made in 2013...the 2014 Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic, old school, Washington state Cabernet that gives up big, rich notes of dark fruits, chocolate, truffle and licorice. This full-bodied, concentrated 2014 has notable tannic grip, a big mid-palate and a great finish. It will evolve nicely for 4-5 years then drink nicely for more than 10-15 years."

Mark Ryan Lonely Heart Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

$85.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($94.95 regular)

A superbly classy Cabernet, this wins you over with its sophistication rather than its forcefulness. Classic cassis Cabernet fruit joins black cherry and black raspberry, cedar, purple flowers and minerals. Like it's Old Vine brethren, it is a fantastic cellar wine, though you could get it to shine with an hour in a decanter. From Red Mountain's Quintessence and Obelisco Vineyards. Only 300 cases made. - Marcus

93-95 points Wine Advocate: "An elegant, focused 2014 from this team, the 2014 Lonely Heart Cabernet Sauvignon offers lots of crisp black raspberry, cassis, violets and graphite in a fresh, full-bodied, nicely concentrated style."

We look forward to helping you with an order. Thanks for reading and for your support!
