Why Chard today? Because we couldn't wait another day to tell you about these fantastic Oregon Chards, made by a couple of our favorite guys in the Willamette Valley: Tim Malone and Mo Ayoub. They've delivered simply outstanding wines and no where near enough to go around. Grab them while you can.
Tim Malone texted the other day to ask if we had time to offer feedback on his new Chard. It was recently bottled and he was deciding whether to release it now. He poured and asked what I thought; the polite version of my response, release it! Certified-organic Cancilla Vineyard, on the farthest northwest hinterlands of the Willamette Valley, was spun into electric yellow-green nectar in Tim's newest wine. Ever the humble guy, he's priced it to be an absolute bargain -- nay, a steal. Creamy citrus and mouthwatering freshness, with texture that rarely exists in sub-$25 Chardonnay. Only 94 cases were made so get to it.
Tim is one of the underdog producers in Oregon. His wines are always top notch, always modestly priced, yet he doesn't get much of the spotlight. No matter, the rest of the wine-loving world will have to wait to experience his exceptional wines but you'll already have them in your collection. - Marcus
Mo talks a big Chardonnay game and he is right to! This is his most complete Chardonnay yet. Tons of energy to go with the richness, evident immediately by the beautifully balanced aromas honey-drizzled brioche dusted with lemon zest. Layers of fruit -- first pear, then yellow and orange citrus -- come on strong. Everything is wound together by threads of fresh acidity and minerals. Undeniably engaging right now, this will also age gracefully for up to a decade. Very often highly rated...after it is long sold out. Don't procrastinate! - Marcus
