It's okay to drink young Barolo. Seriously, you read the recommended drinking windows for the sublimely stellar Schivenza Barolos and think "I don't want to wait that long!" Don't! As we sat and sipped them, I suppose there was an intellectual curiosity about what they'd taste like in 5, 10, 15 years but honestly, the idea was as far away as the drinking windows. They are so hypnotically attractive now, even without food and without decanting. Add either or both of those elements and you arrive back at the call to action: drink more Barolo, now!

94 points Wine Spectator: "Macerated cherry and raspberry fruit gets plenty of company from the eucalyptus, tar and tobacco notes in this taut, racy red. It tightens up on the finish, with terrific balance overall. Best from 2023 through 2045."
Us: This hits my Barolo "sweet spot," with the perfect combination of old-school elegance and structure meeting a hypnotically attractive, deeply spiced, surprisingly drinkable (now, despite what Spectator's note says), layered beauty. I want a glass of this on my desk to smell all day. An absolutely rocking wine, stacked with red fruits up front, quietly building the most flavorful, chewy, sweet tannins, weaving in a menthol-minty lift and helping the deliciousness to echo forever (seriously, I fell behind tasting because the finish wouldn't quit...and I didn't want it to!). Recommended without reservation.

94 points Wine Spectator: "A bright, open and fruity style, boasting cherry, strawberry, tobacco, iron and saline flavors. Firm and linear, with a tight cohesiveness and a long, detailed finish. Best from 2023 through 2042."
Us: As we get to know Schiavenza, we're beginning to recognize the regal, elegant breadth of Prapo, fully on display here. Refined throughout, mouthcoating in texture, bright with woodsy, balsamic notes underneath and a beautifully long, spiced and sweet finish.

93 points Wine Spectator: "A dense, muscular style, exhibiting plum and black cherry fruit, allied to broad, beefy tannins. Tar, menthol and iron flavors power through the heady finish. Best from 2023 through 2043."
Us: Okay, this is one for the long haul! A very welcoming, intensely aromatic and spiced Barolo nose leads to a palate of notable power, density, and resinous balsamic notes lingering through underlying sweet fruit. A great choice for your cellar.
