Customer Favorites: Manu Propria and Owen Roe

Today's story is of recent and distant customer favorites. We highly recommend both!

The recent: since Mike Macmorran's Manu Propria burst onto the scene a few years back, it's been a clear customer favorite Cabernet. While many Washington fans know Mike's winemaking from his incredible success as winemaker for Mark Ryan, a lucky few know how awesome Mike's own label is, too.

Manu Propria Ex Animo Cabernet Sauvignon Red Willow Vineyard 2013

$35.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($39.95 regular)

We always love how this smells: aromatic, savory notes of sage and olive combining with powerful black fruits and fresh tobacco. Blackcurrants and cassis pour forth, with outstanding Cabernet purity. Finishing with great length and stealthy structure, this can be enjoyed already and will cellar nicely over the coming decade. 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Only 135 cases made, which is why only a lucky few (relatively) will get to taste how superb this is.

The distant: over a decade ago, Owen Roe's Sangiovese was wildly popular with our customers. Then, it disappeared. Sure, it added nice elements to the Abbot's Table (which it was blended into) but for years, we left Sangio fans wanting more...

Owen Roe Sangiovese Red Willow Vineyard 2015

$37.75 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($41.95 regular)

It's back! For a little bit, at least, as there were a mere 150 cases produced. Sweet crushed raspberries and red currants mingle with spice, dried herb, and coffee bean accents. What impresses us most is the balance -- a character we think is essential in Sangiovese. While it's a youthful 2015, don't let that stop you from opening it now; it jumps from the glass, ready to put a smile on your face.
