If the Ghostbusters can do it, so can we. Cross the streams!
It's rare that we feature an Oregon and Washington winery together, even though we've found tons of crossover appeal through the years. But as we noodled on today's offer for the last of Quilceda Creek's CVR 2018 we thought, "you know who else is a big name in Northwest wine and just got a huge review?" we decided on Washington AND Oregon. Andy, turn on the Washington proton pack; Marcus turn on the Oregon proton pack. Now cross the streams to defeat the Stay-Puft boring wine man with the last 2 cases (yes, only 2 cases!) of Quilceda Creek's best CVR to date plus the highest scoring Cristom Mt. Jefferson Cuvee Pinot noir to date.

95 points Wine Spectator, "Hot Wine":A compelling wine, beautifully proportioned and detailed, with a polished texture and expressive flavors of blackberry, toasty mocha and orange zest. Gathers speed and tension toward fine-grained tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2031."
Us: The best CVR to date? The winery thinks so and we're inclined to agree with them. Particularly rich and lush, it is pure heady Cabernet delight. Two-fifths the price of the big-boy below but not 2/5 the wine. We think this is headed for Spectator's Top 100...even pretty high up the list.

97 points James Suckling: "This is very seductive on the nose with ripe strawberry, spice, flowers and hints of cloves. Full-bodied, but very reserved and tight with chewy, polished tannins and a long, long finish. Racy and structured. Try after 2024."
Us: Cristom champions classically-styled Pinot noir and the '19 Mt. Jeff is exactly that. Wonderful aromatics, succulent red fruits, the savory complexity and structure that has made Cristom a household name for Willamette Pinot fans. We think you're fine diving into a bottle or two now but it's only going to improve.
Ask just about any Oregon wine industry veteran which winemakers they respect most and you'll hear Cristom's Steve Doerner mentioned.

98+ points Jeb Dunnuck:"Another magical Cabernet Sauvignon from this team, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley comes from a blend of sites and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up mostly in new French oak. This vivid purple-hued beauty offers a kaleidoscope-like array of red and black currants, spice box, lead pencil shavings, crushed stone, and assorted tobacco and leafy herb nuances. These carry to full-bodied Cabernet with incredibly purity of fruit, building tannins and structure, flawless balance, and a monster of a finish that won't quit. It should keep for 20-25 years with no issues."
Us:Not yet rated by Wine Spectator, it's easy to see this going beyond the CVR rating and besides, it is THE iconic Washington State Cabernet so you can never go wrong. We've tasted it and holy hell, it's a serious Cabernet.
