Beating the Drums for the Single Best Value American Pinot Noir

I've been a drummer since I was five. While I've been accused of beating the actual drums too loudly, I can never imagine beating the drums loudly enough for Evesham Wood Willamette Valley Pinot noir, consistently the single best value in American Pinot noir, vintage after vintage. Every year in late August-early September, I get the itch -- I know Evesham Willamette is coming. It's a momentous release that sets the bar for the vintage. And the bar for 2017 has been set high!

($21.95 regular)
This is the wine I've been waiting for. It always starts with the smell, the wonderfully mesmerizing perfume of Evesham Wood, more magical in 2017 than in the previous half-dozen vintages. My favorite EW Willamette release since the fabled 2010, it's a mythical combination of the 2010 and 2015 vintages, the best two of the past decade.
Like a fountain of youth in a glass, it's positively energetic, elegantly expressive with red and black cherry aromas and flavors to spare, tenderly woven with ribbons of rosemary blossom. Silky and refined throughout, brimming with youthful vitality, superbly balanced, food-friendly and totally sip-worthy, there's a reason I drink more of this at home than any other Oregon Pinot (and it's not just 'cause I'm cheap). It's fantastic.

I recommend buying at least a case and enjoying a few bottles now and the rest in 6 months to 5 years. - Marcus
