Art in a Bottle: aMaurice Artist Blends and More!

While aMaurice's Artist blends are named for the artists who grace the front labels, an equal degree of art is in the bottle. Among the handful of our favorite Washington red blends, they are works of art in their own right that we highly, highly recommend them.

The new 2016 Artist Paterson is velvety-rich already; the 2015 Artist Morris has blossomed into greatness. Grab some of each along with one of Washington's most outstanding Reserve Cabs, Owl & Crown, and the rollicking Tuesday-night blend, Pour Me.

Gorgeous Washington red wine! What we particularly love about The Artist blends and now, in the Paterson, is their purity of fruit and essence of balance, not covered up by excessive oak or tannin or anything. Paterson combines velvety richness with a lovely fresh buoyancy. Delicious already, a quick decant gives you art in a glass.

Morris continues to open up and strut its stuff, again reminding us of how much we love The Artist blends!

93+ points Wine Advocate: "A blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Offers up attractive aromas of crushed cassis, pencil shavings and toasted gingerbread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety palate with a deep core of savory fruit and youthfully chewy structuring tannins. The finish is long and nicely delineated. This was my favorite of these offerings from àMaurice and I'd expect it to reach its peak in the next decade."

$67.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($74.95 regular)

Serious Cab alert! It doesn't get the kind of attention that other big name Washington Cabs get, but damn if this isn't one of Washington's best Cabernets. Outstanding, creamy black fruits, beautifully textured, supple and richly smooth enough to drink now and balanced enough to last a lot longer.

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Brilliant notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil, exotic flowers, and blood orange. Deep, concentrated, medium to full-bodied, and balanced, it's a beautiful, layered, lengthy Cabernet that will keep for 20+ years."

$17.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case order ($19.95 regular)

This tasty number is aptly named: don't overthink it, just Pour Me! There's some high-quality fruit in here, rich and smooth in the best of ways. 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% each Cabernet Franc and Syrah.
