97 points, Wowing Us Again: Sheridan

Wow. That's exactly what we thought after tasting the newest releases from Washington's Sheridan Vineyard. We had a fortunate sneak preview of the wines before The Wine Advocate's staggering reviews were published Friday and they are on a new level. It's rare to find reviews like these paired with such reasonable prices. Any and every fan of Washington red wine should check these out.

In the words of Wine Advocate: "Wow, hold on to your hats for these latest releases from Sheridan's Scott Greer! This is a killer vintage from this Yakima Valley based estate and he's made one of the Cabernet Sauvignons of the vintage [see below for the 99 pointer!], probably the best Cabernet Franc I've ever tasted from Washington, and an insanely good Syrah that reminds me of Guigal's famed Côte Rôties. Bravo!"

Sheridan Vineyard Boss Block 2014

$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($54.95 regular)

97 points Wine Advocate: "...it yields serious notes of black fruits, damp earth, dark chocolate and leafy herbs. These flow to a rich, full-bodied wine that has an expansive, voluptuous texture, gorgeous mid-palate concentration and a great finish. Reminding me of the 2008 Cheval Blanc (it has a voluptuousness on the palate similar to the 2009!), it remains to be seen how well this cuvee evolves, but my money is firmly on it having two decades of longevity. And comparisons and adjectives aside, it's unquestionably the greatest vintage of this cuvee made and should not be missed by readers!"

Like The Wine Advocate said, wow. Amazingly rich and showy, gorgeously aromatic, and also wow. I'd remove the "probably" from this being the best Cabernet Franc I've tasted from Washington. And if Cab Franc hasn't been your thing in the past, I urge you to try this and to respond quickly! - Marcus

Sheridan Vineyard Mystique 2015

$22.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($24.95 regular)

94 points Wine Advocate, Value Alert!: "A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Mystique is killer wine! Its deep ruby/purplish color is followed by notes of blackcurrants, white chocolate, wood smoke and tobacco. Deep, plush and opulent on the palate, with silky texture, drink this hedonistic, yet perfectly balanced beauty over the coming decade or so."

Explosive aromatics, very complex and lush, out-classing its peers in texture and frankly, pretty much everything else. Back up the truck and load up by the case! - Marcus

Sheridan Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$22.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($24.95 regular)

93 points Wine Advocate: "The base 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is another deep purple/ruby colored red from Scott that has considerable elegance in its creme de cassis, lead pencil, toasted bread and black raspberry scented bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, silky and polished on the palate, with terrific purity, it's another gem to drink over the coming decade."

A huge step up from previous vintages, this rocking value Cab is a joy to drink. - Marcus
