97 points, #1 Wine of the Year, and Best Barolo Deal

A little break from Oregon and Washington today, since we have some exciting Italian re-arrivals and a pre-arrival. Off to the hills of Tuscany and Piedmont!
First, a reprise of our most memorable wine of 2016 so far. Our customers seem to agree...

Isole e Olena Cepparello Toscana IGT 2012
$71.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($79.95 regular)
Any fan of Italian wine should not miss this. We opened a bottle to share with friends and it blew us away. We've had no finer example of Sangiovese. It is completely deserving of 97 points and based on the feedback so far, our customers seem to agree. Another small batch arrives in August. Breathtakingly beautiful and expressive. Decant if enjoying now.
97 points Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "The 2012 Cepparello is magnificent. Radiant, pliant and super-expressive, the 2012 offers magnificent intensity, with silky tannins wrapped around a core of rich, dark-toned fruit. The intensity of the fruit suggests a warm vintage, but the structure is more medium in body and typical of a cooler year. Today, the 2012 gives the impression it will drink well pretty much upon release, but history has taught me Cepparello often shuts down in bottle. Either way, the 2012 is superb."
#1 Wine of the Year, Wine Enthusiast, 95 points:
San Felice Il Grigio da San Felice Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2011
$40.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($44.95 regular)
That's right -- Wine Enthusiast's #1 Wine of 2015! Very (very) limited. 6 bottle limit per customer. It will sell out quickly.
"A fantastic combination of power and finesse, this opens with aromas of under brush, ripe plum, truffle, leather, smoke and a balsamic note. The firm, delicious palate delivers fleshy black cherry, crushed raspberry, cinnamon and mocha. Velvety tannins support the juicy flavors."
And now to Barolo and the re-arrival of the best Barolo deal around...
Reverdito Barolo 2011
$21.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($23.95 regular)
The best deal in Barolo we've ever found. All the character of Barolo is in here -- complex aromas of licorice and rose, dark red fruit on the palate. This has become a staple in many customers' homes because of its ridiculous quality-to-price factor. Who says you can't drink Barolo any night of the week?
And finally, the first ever Asili Riserva from Ca del Baio...
Ca del Baio Barbaresco Asili Riserva 2011
$89.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($99.95 regular)
95+ points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous: "An absolute stunner, the 2011 Barbaresco Riserva Asili, emerges from the glass with a mélange of exotic, beguiling aromatics. Lavender, pine, rose petal, savory herbs and melted road tar form a fabric of nearly indescribable beauty. Proprietor Giulio Grasso elected to leave the wine on its skins until the end of November. Power and finesse have never been so seamless here. Although just bottled, the 2011 Asili Riserva is a great wine in the making." Very limited.
