95, 96 point, Spectacular Value New Arrivals from Italy

We tasted -- and drank -- a ton of Pinot noir over the weekend. We're still pondering all the amazing wines but in the meantime, we need a 24 hour break from Pinot. Coincidentally, we have brand new arrivals from Italy from two of our favorite producers: Paitin in Barbaresco and Lisini in Montalcino

Super-highly rated cellar gems in the 95 point Sori Paitin Barbaresco 2015 and the 96 point Ugolaia Brunello. Spectacular values in the awesome Serra Barbera and the best Montalcino value we've ever tasted, San Biagio. There's something for every Italian wine lover in this quartet.

From Barbaresco:

Paitin Barbaresco Sori Paitin Serraboella 2015
$49.45 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($54.95 regular)
95 points Wine Spectator: "Sweet cherry and strawberry fruit is framed by earth, eucalyptus, tobacco and tar notes in this rich yet firm red. The assertive tannins suggest a glacial evolution but the lasting impression of fruit shows this wine's potential. Best from 2022 through 2040."

Paitin Barbera Serra 2016
$17.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($19.95 regular)
As I've already written several times, 2016 will go down at one of the all-time great vintages for Piedmont. As much as we loved the '15 Serra, the 2016 transcends and elevates to Barbera heaven. Rich, vibrant and balanced with unstoppable red and black cherry goodness, floral and spice flourishes, you'll enjoy drinking this on its own or with a board of Italian cured meats, cheeses, and olives. Awesome juice! - Marcus
From Montalcino:

Lisini San Biagio Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2016
$18.85 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order ($20.95 regular)
Baby Brunello alert! From the soon-to-be-legendary 2016 vintage, a stunning deal in Montalcino Sangiovese, from the same vineyards that produce Lisini's Brunello and Rosso. What it lacks in sophistication (hardly a thing) it more, way more, than makes up for in value. Not quite as limited as the Ugolaia but considering a bunch of this is going straight to our personal cellars, you still ought to act quickly. - Marcus

Lisini Brunello di Montalcino Ugolaia 2012
$89.95 in any 12 bottle or Build a Case* order
($99.95 regular)
96 points Wine Spectator Insider 4/3/19: "A bright and elegant yet taut and structured version, this red features buried cherry, plum, earth, iron and tobacco flavors. Dynamic despite the firm grip of tannins, this should come around in a few years. Licorice and ripe cherry notes mark the finish. Best from 2020 through 2038."Super-duper limited.
