25% Off Barolo Bests

Happy Friday, Barolo friends! We've been eagerly awaiting today's Barolo superstars and even more eager to share a whopping 25% off two of the three.

G.D. Vajra is on everyone's list of top Barolo producers; that holds especially true for us. Pound for pound (dollar for dollar), Vajra's Bricco delle Viole is our favorite Barolo. Seriously. Today, the 2017 is 25% off while the incoming 2018, fresh off its Wine Spectator rave, shows us the elegant brilliance that is Bricco delle Viole. And Vajra's Ravera—one of the legendary, bigtime crus of Barolo—is also 25% off, complete with its #5 Top 100 placement.

Sure, these are "collectible" wines but what you'll find in the 2017s is earlier access to Barolo magic and in the 2018, pure gorgeousness. Sale prices are good through Monday so take advantage of this offer today!

#5 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 of 2021, 97 points: "From the township of Novello and from what is now widely recognized as one of the denomination's top vineyard sites, this stunning wine offers intense aromas of wild berry, new leather, flowers, camphor and grilled herb. The delicious, structured palate shows finesse and power, featuring ripe red cherry, blood orange, cedar, licorice and iron while noble tannins provide support. Reflecting the vintage, this won't need years to come around but will also age well for at least another decade. Drink 2022–2032."

95 points Wine Spectator: "Notable for its purity of fruit, this Barolo features black cherry, black currant, violet, mineral and tar aromas and flavors. Harmonious and lithe, with an underpinning of mineral that lingers through the dynamic finish. Best from 2025 through 2045. 510 cases made."

95 points Wine Spectator: "An elegant version, this red features rose, black currant, cherry, mineral and a hint of eucalyptus aromas and flavors. Linear in profile, this is solidly built on a graceful frame, with finely woven tannins and vibrant acidity. Best from 2026 through 2045."

Us: We tasted this with Giuseppe Vajra earlier in the summer and it was our star of the entire 2017 and 2018 lineup. The key word above is "elegant" and that's what left us nearly speechless. A brilliant, beautiful Barolo!

So, it's probably good. Kidding aside, the '17 Bricco delle Viole exudes the richness of the vintage; the vineyard's high elevation kept noteworthy freshness and lift. Finesse-driven, its creamy-wonderful palate of fruit will allow our like-minded Barolo friends to enjoy it far sooner than a decade from now...also known as, this fall. But by all means, lay a few in the cellar and watch them evolve over a decade, too.
